Mastering Social Media Content Creation: Key Tips and Strategies
Creating content for social media doesn't have to be a daunting task. In this post, I will share some valuable top tips to organically boost your social media presence.
Mix-up your content: Avoid being overly promotional in every post. Aim to educate, inform, entertain or inspire along with promoting your product or website. This 80/20 rule keeps your content from becoming repetitive, adding value to your audience's experience.
Align content to objectives and audience: Always consider if your post meets your social media objectives and falls within your brand's niche. Prioritise quality over quantity when it comes to content. It’s useful to complete an audit of your previous social media content - then you can identify themes that worked well and meet your objectives.
Answer customer queries: Frequently asked questions, common customer challenges, or popular keywords can be great ideas for new content. Adding value by solving your audience challenges goes a long way in audience retention.
Consistency is key: Consistency enhances your chances of being noticed by the algorithm. Establish a posting schedule that works for you and maintain it. This also ensures your audience knows when to expect new content.
Visually engage your audience: Media-rich posts always perform better. Include images, videos and other forms of visual content to enhance audience engagement.
Maintain authenticity: Showing your face, sharing behind-the-scenes footages, business challenges and tips are ways to create relatable content. What matters is authenticity! If you're camera-shy, consider voiceovers instead.
Repurpose content: Repurposing popular posts or reworking different versions of a successful post helps fight content fatigue. Also, you can adjust this online 'recycling' to fit various platforms, like YouTube shorts or Instagram Reels.
Share successful content: Sharing relevant content from thought leaders or user-generated content (with due credit) can help engage your audience. Don’t forget to share reviews or testimonials from your own customers/audience, as these can help to build trust.
Tune in to occurrent events: Aligning your posts with relevant awareness days in your industry can help your content resonate more with your audience.
Ensure brand consistency: Ensure that visual elements like colours, logo, fonts remain consistent across all your posts. This fosters brand recognition.
Competitor research: Look at what your competitors are doing. Their creative approach can inspire new content ideas.
Finally, the most important piece of advice is to experiment! Social media algorithms and audience preferences are continuously evolving. Don't be afraid to try new things and see what works best for your brand.
