Skillshare Wrapped 2024
As 2024 draws to a close, it’s time to reflect on everything I’ve achieved this year (specifically, teaching on Skillshare!)
I’m really proud of how things have gone this year, but of course, I want more! I have some ambitious goals for 2025, which I’ll share in an upcoming post, but this post will focus on my favourite Skillshare-related achievements of 2024, lessons learned, and my plans for 2025!
Became a Top Teacher on Skillshare!
Without question, my favourite and proudest 2024 achievement was being selected to be a Top Teacher on Skillshare. I still can’t believe it! This is a recognition awarded to the top 2% of teachers on Skillshare. Whilst this was one of my long-term goals, I didn’t expect it to happen so soon and I’m so extremely grateful.
Launched 4 new courses
In 2024, I launched 4 new Skillshare courses, including my first 10-minute course on ChatGPT, which already has over 120 students!
I didn’t launch as many courses as I’d have liked (I planned for 5 originally), but I’m happy with what I managed to do. At the moment, I’m creating my Skillshare courses around my full-time marketing job, and this year I also completed the London Marathon, with the training pretty much taking up all of my spare time in the first part of the year! I also landed an unplanned freelance contract over the summer which took up around 3 months.
So with that being said, I’m pleased with what I fit in Skillshare-wise! In 2025, I hope to get into more of a cadence, as I’ve learnt that you really get out what you put in with Skillshare. So, watch this space!!
Grew my community to over 2,500 students
I’m really pleased that I now have over 2,500 students! My goal for 2024 was to reach 2,000 students, so I’m very happy with this. I also reached nearly 70,000 minutes watched!
Saw my TikTok Marketing Strategy course become my most popular class of the year
My most popular course of this year was my TikTok Marketing Strategy course, which I launched in February before the marathon training got intense! This course has done well and has almost 600 students so far - growing weekly. This makes me happy and also gives me some indication on what topics are popular and that I can make follow up courses on.
Received some amazing reviews!
I was really lucky to receive only positive reviews for my courses in 2024. This is my favourite review of the year, left on my TikTok marketing strategy course:
“Thank you, Louise, for an incredibly informative course. I finally took the plunge and made my business account on TikTok. I look forward to using the strategies you’ve taught in this course and seeing where that takes my brand and business. Will definitely be watching more of your courses. Thank you again.”
I truly am grateful, thanks so much for the support!
Lessons I have learnt in 2024:
Celebrate the Small Wins: Whether it’s launching a new class or receiving a positive review! It all adds up and makes a difference.
Embrace Change: This year, I focused on staying ahead of trends, including earning an AI Marketing qualification from the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) and using and understanding Chat-GPT. This not only helped me improve my own knowledge but also enabled me to create more relevant and in-demand courses like my AI Marketing Strategy course.
Find Your Cadence: I learned that cadence and consistency are critical when it comes to creating Skillshare courses. Regularly publishing high-quality content builds momentum and helps my students stay engaged. Unfortunately, I didn’t create the cadence I’d have liked this year, and my stats suffered a bit I think, but that’s the goal for 2025!
Learn from Others: Sharing ideas and learning from other teachers on Skillshare was invaluable. The collaborative spirit of the teaching community inspired me to grow and improve my courses. In 2025, I would like to be more active in the teacher community.
Plan & Allow Time: Scripting and filming content in advance is key, but I’ve learned that editing always takes the longest. Proper planning ensures the final course is polished and professional. To help with this, I now have an actual content calendar to plan my courses and make sure I hit my targets! I’ve also invested in a new RODE microphone and a teleprompter to help cut down editing time.
Understand What Students Need: The success of my TikTok Marketing Strategy course showed me the importance of offering practical, actionable guidance for today’s fast-changing digital landscape. In 2025 I need to think more about my target audience and what course topics would help them.
Looking ahead to 2025
So what is my focus for 2025? I would love to grow my Skillshare presence and community further, so these are some goals I have to make that happen!
Keep up the cadence with course publishing - I’m aiming for a new marketing course every 2 months! As well as optimising and updating my existing courses.
Releasing digital products like templates and guides to complement my courses.
Growing my social media presence (focusing mainly on Instagram and LinkedIn initially), and my Skillshare community, to connect with more learners.
Get a Staff Pick! I would love to get a Skillshare Staff Pick for one of my courses in 2025.
Continue to refine my course creation and editing processes so that I can become more efficient (including using my custom Chat GPT!)
Thanks for reading! Your support—whether by watching a class, leaving a review, or sharing your success stories—means the world to me.
Here’s to another year of creativity, learning, and connection in 2025!
