Q1 Reflections & Q2 Intentions: Building a Business That Feels Like Me

It’s the end of March already, which means it’s the end of Q1!

At the start of the year, I set myself a handful of intentional quarterly goals for my business, and now it’s time to reflect on how I did, and what’s in store for Q2.

I’ve always loved goal-setting and reflecting, it helps me feel in control, and breaking things down by quarter makes everything feel less overwhelming and more achievable.

This year was always about steadily building a foundation for my freelance business and long-term goals, and when I look back, I can see that starting to take shape.

My Q1 Goals (January–March):

  • Launch my first Skillshare course of the year

  • Create my first digital product to complement the course

  • Do a branding photoshoot to refresh my visuals

  • Launch a free lead magnet and start building my email list

  • Show up more consistently on Instagram & LinkedIn

  • Start laying the foundations for my freelance work

I’m happy to say I achieved most of them - with a few lovely surprises thrown in along the way 💛

What Actually Happened (Q1 Wins):

  • ✅ I launched my first Skillshare course of the year, on the topic of Marketing Strategy and ChatGPT (and, to top it off, Skillshare chose it as a feature in their AI & Innovation section, which was a nice surprise!)

  • ✅ I created my first digital product (no sales yet, but it’s live and I’m just so PROUD to have it out there)

  • ✅ I had a branding shoot and finally got new headshots for my website and social media, which is something I’ve been meaning to do for ages.

  • ✅ Reached over 3,000 students on Skillshare!

  • ✅ I launched my lead magnet and now have an email list (small but growing - sign up to stay updated!😉)

  • ✅ I showed up consistently-ish on socials - LinkedIn definitely needs more work but I’m getting there.

  • ✅ I picked up a couple of freelance clients unexpectedly, which helped me realise how much I enjoy working in this way, and it made me excited for the future.

My Goals for Q2

Q2 is less about pushing and more about refining. This is what I’m focusing on for Q2:

  • Launching my second Skillshare course of the year

  • Creating a lighter digital product (maybe a toolkit or guide)

  • Reworking my lead magnet and promoting it more intentionally

  • Defining my freelance offers, updating my website, and starting to share them softly

My focus for Q2 is about alignment more than hustle, and building something that actually fits me.
