Marketing Consultancy FAQs
-
The best starting point depends on whether you need to solve one specific problem, assess existing marketing or develop a new direction.
A Marketing Power Hour is suitable for one defined question. Choose an audit if you need to understand what is and is not working. A Marketing Strategy & Roadmap is designed for a new business, offer, launch or change of direction. If you are unsure, tell me where you feel stuck and I will recommend the most appropriate option.
-
Your priorities should reflect your goals, audience, current performance and available resources. You do not need to use every marketing channel.
I can help you identify what deserves attention now, what can wait and what may not be worth pursuing. If your priorities are unclear, a Focused Marketing MOT can provide an accessible starting point.
-
Marketing can underperform because of unclear positioning, unsuitable channels, inconsistent activity or gaps in the customer journey. Your website, SEO, email marketing and content may also be operating separately rather than supporting one clear goal.
A marketing audit can help identify the underlying issues before you invest more time or money in additional tactics.
-
I work primarily with UK owner-led small businesses, solo founders and small teams that need experienced marketing direction but do not employ a senior in-house marketer.
This includes service businesses, professional and educational organisations, ecommerce businesses and other businesses where visibility, reputation and customer relationships matter.
-
A marketing audit evaluates what already exists. It identifies what is working, what needs attention and where opportunities may be missed.
A marketing strategy looks forward. It defines the audience, direction, priorities and channels needed to achieve a particular goal.
If your current marketing is underperforming, begin with an audit. If you are starting from scratch, launching something new or changing direction, a Marketing Strategy & Roadmap may be more appropriate.
-
Not always. A new business or offer may need a strategy without having enough existing marketing to audit.
An established business will usually benefit from some review of its current activity before choosing a new direction. This does not necessarily require a separate audit project - the appropriate level of review can be included within the strategy scope.
-
You will receive prioritised recommendations linked to your goals, resources and capacity.
Depending on the service, this may include concise findings, your most important priorities, a 90-day action plan, a detailed audit report or a phased roadmap. I will explain what to address first, what can follow later and what may not be worth pursuing.
-
You should not need to implement everything at once.
Recommendations are prioritised so that you can see what matters most, what can wait and what can be completed internally.
The plan will reflect your available time, skills, team and budget. Focused implementation or ongoing strategic support can also be provided where appropriate.
-
Yes. Marketing implementation can be scoped separately once the priorities are clear.
Projects may include SEO and website-content improvements, email campaigns and automations, content planning, AI marketing workflows or selected actions from your audit or roadmap. Each project has an agreed outcome, deliverables, timescale and fixed price.
-
Yes. Reviews can cover website content, customer journeys, on-page SEO, keyword visibility, competitor activity and visibility within AI-powered search.
A focused review identifies the most important issues within a defined scope. An in-depth audit provides more extensive analysis, research, recommendations and a prioritised improvement plan.
-
Yes. I can support email marketing strategy, customer journeys, campaign planning, welcome sequences, nurture emails, automations and content.
This may involve reviewing your existing email activity, developing an email strategy or completing a clearly scoped implementation project.
-
Yes. I can provide strategic direction, review plans and help ensure that different marketing activities support the same priorities.
This can be particularly useful when a business has several freelancers, specialist suppliers or a junior team member but no experienced senior marketer coordinating the work.
-
Yes. Strategic Marketing Advisor support provides regular senior input without the cost or commitment of employing a full-time marketing manager.
Support can include priority-setting, strategic calls, feedback, accountability and guidance when working with other suppliers. It is strategic consultancy rather than unlimited day-to-day marketing management.
-
I can support social media strategy, content planning and campaign ideas, but I do not take over ongoing posting, account management or community management.
I also do not provide hands-on Google Ads or Meta Ads management. Where appropriate, I can offer strategic oversight or work alongside relevant specialists.
-
The cost depends on the complexity of the problem, research required, deliverables and level of responsibility. My guide prices currently include a Marketing Power Hour at £95, audits from £495, Marketing Strategy & Roadmap projects from £895 and Strategic Marketing Advisor support from £650 per month. Implementation and training are scoped individually. A fixed price will be agreed before work begins.
-
Yes, provided the scope is realistic for your resources. A Marketing Power Hour or Focused Marketing MOT can provide an accessible starting point. Newer businesses and solo founders may benefit from my courses and free resources before investing in individual consultancy. I will be honest if a lower-cost option is more appropriate.

No responsible marketing consultant can guarantee specific leads, sales or search rankings. Results depend on factors including your offer, market, competition, budget and implementation. I provide evidence-led recommendations, explain the reasoning behind them and help you focus on improvements most likely to support your goals.
